Meeting Notes
The Machine Knitters of Pensacola, Florida met at the Milton Library April 22, 2006, with Dianne, Von, Barbara Meloy, Karen, Barbara B, Susan and Jean in attendance.
Susie Bailey of Birmingham, Alabama visited for the day, and brought lovely show-and-tell items including several things made on her circular sock knitting machine and several "killed" acrylic baby blankets. Next time, she says she'll bring the machine! We hope to see her again soon.
Barbara Meloy demonstrated short-rowing, and we decided that manual wrapping gives the least obvious marks in the final product. As always when Barbara teaches, we learned enough to make our heads spin. Unfortunately, Susan forgot the camera, so pictures aren't available.
Jean wore the birthday sombrero at La Hacienda's, in a moment that those of us in attendance won't need a camera to remember, though I sure wish I had a picture anyway!
The Yarn Depot has 2/24 yarn on sale for $6.25/lb through in Country Rose, Cantelope and Happy Teal. After May 31, the price will be $6.60. You can see the colors at the website at http://www.yarndepot.com. Contact Barbara if you're interested.
The Sandee Cherry seminar we've been talking about may be moved to the Pensacola/Milton area if there is enough interest. Otherwise her nearest seminar will be in Orlando. If you haven't already, please express your interest at http://sandeeskwikknit.com/seminar.html.
Suzie Iwata, an old club member, is selling her knitting machines. She has an old Brother (long before the 910), and a slightly younger Silver Reed. She has all of the attachments, tables, etc. Both are punchcard machines. I don't want to put her phone number on the 'net, so if you're interested e-mail me and I'll give it to you.
May's meeting is the 27th from 10-1 at the Milton Library. Barbara will be demonstrating a number of cast-ons and bind-offs. I've heard from two knitters who I hope will join us - Marie, who is returning to Passap knitting after many years away, and Martha, who bought her machine at a shop in Eastgate Plaza. (Was that you, Von?)
HAPPY KNITTING!
Susan
