Meeting Notes

The Machine Knitters of Pensacola, Florida met at the Milton Library February 25, 2006, with ten in attendance.

Sonia Carr of Panama City joined us for the meeting. Sonia is long-time Passap knitter, and we hope to see more and more of her.

Alex was the only one of us to complete last month's challenge project, completing a lovely sweater. Make sure you check out the pictures below.

Pam led us in an informative discussion of yarn and gauge. Unfortunately, no matter how much we badgered her, she refused to disclose the magic secret of which tension with which yarn, and instead insists that we SWATCH! Besides all the yarn info, Pam showed off the features of Knitware to those who haven't seen it, and dropped several other pearls without even thinking about it. Thank you, Pam!

The challenge for next month is to use Von's trim on an item - a baby blanket, a sweater, a washcloth.  Let's see it, ladies.  Yes, I know, that's the same challenge as last month, but since Alex was the only one to make it, we're trying again. If you didn't make the meeting but want a copy of the trim let me know.  I can send a PDF (most computers already have the software to read these) or mail you a hard copy.

March's meeting is the 25th from 9-5 at the Milton Library.  Note the long hours; we'll be having a poncho party! You'll need 20 ounces of worsted weight yarn and a skein of a contrast color. Von says she has plenty of appropriate yarn if you want to contact her. Von's pattern will work on a midgauge or bulky machine. If you don't have one but still want to knit along, contact Susan or Dianne and we'll bring an extra! Bring lunch and drinks - coffee and dessert will be provided.

HAPPY KNITTING!
