Meeting Notes
The Machine Knitters of Pensacola, Florida met at the Milton Library January 28, 2006, with eight in attendance.
Sandee Cherry of www.sandeeskwikknit.com made an unexpected visit. Sandee is quite an accomplished designer, with over 40 books available on her website. She's been in the area visiting her daughter and doing business from the trunk of her car. It was a lovely visit, and we hope to see her again soon. Caveat for Sandee - once is a visit, but twice and we claim you as our own.
Alex is new to our group. She lives in Crestview and has been machine knitting for about a year. She is working on the TKGA Master Machine Knitting program and also hand-knits, sews and machine embroiders.(I'm sure I left something out.) And, WARNING - she's already working on her challenge for the February meeting!
Von demonstrated a scalloped edge trim with eyelets that is worked before the main piece. The result looks a lot harder than it is. Von did a beautiful job despite being saddled with an unfamiliar machine and the wrong yarn! She also showed off forty or so other trims she has done in the past. Thank you, Von.
The challenge for next month is to use Von's trim on an item - a baby blanket, a sweater, a washcloth. Let's see it, ladies! If you didn't make the meeting but want a copy of the trim let me know. I can send a PDF (most computers already have the software to read these)or mail you a hard copy.
February's meeting is the 25th from 10-1 at the Milton Library. Pam will be leading us in an exploration of yarn and gauge, arguably the most important facet of knitting.
HAPPY KNITTING!
