Meeting Notes
The Machine Knitters of Pensacola, Florida met at the Milton Library May 27, 2006, with Dianne, Von, Barbara Meloy, Karen, Barbara B, Susan, Jean, Alex, Martha Lyle, Mabel Argentine, and Marie Durrett in attendance.
Martha has a Brother standard machine that she has not used lately, and she wants to get back into machine knitting.
Marie is a Passap knitter who is returning to the machine knitting community after being away for many years.
Mabel was invited by Von to visit our meeting and learn about machine knitting.
Barbara talked with us about the importance of maintaining our machines. She then demonstrated e-wrap, crochet and waste-yarn cast-ons, and casting on using every-other needle. After knitting several samples, she demonstrated binding off with a tapestry needle (sewn bind-off), and crochet bind-offs around one and two gate pegs. Those of us who have had problems with the gate pegs when binding off were able to practice with Barbara right there.
June's meeting is the 24th from 1-5 at the Milton Library. Von will demonstrate a seven-minute slipper. For those who wish to meet for lunch, we'll be meeting at La Hacienda at 11:30.
HAPPY KNITTING!
